This time of year is all about bright, fresh and inspiring home looks – but do you dare to go bold and bright with your decor? Adding vibrant colour to your interiors can be an intimidating and sometimes an overwhelming task, but it shouldn’t have to be! You essentially want to add pops of colour which draw the eye to the point of interest. If you’re unsure of where to put colour and how much of it, we’re taking a closer look at our Jasper room set which features a solid colour as the central focus point and then draws out accents of other colour through the use of home accessories – which is a great place to start if you want play with the brighter side of interiors.

Jasper corner sofa in Cyan smart linen, £4,430, sofa.com

New for SS’18, our Jasper corner sofa is quite a wonderful design. It provides plenty of space to seat the whole family but its curved shape and tall tapered legs mean it doesn’t feel too intrusive or overwhelming in your home. As a corner, it is available in range of sizes meaning it can be enjoyed even by those with slightly smaller spaces to fill in their home – hooray!  If you fancy Jasper as a sofa or armchair, we can do that too!

The vibrant fabric is also from our new range this season, the smart linen in the cool toned Cyan is a busy home’s best friend and provides a clean canvas for the addition of added colour and pattern. The smart linen, available in 6 easily-adaptable colourways, offers a lightweight and versatile fabric that holds its own against water-based spills – very clever, indeed!

Felix footstool in Dijon soft wool, £230, sofa.com

To introduce colour to your home in small steps, a footstool is a great place to start and can easily be matched with other home accessories.

Our Felix footstool in Dijon soft wool may be little in size, but it packs a punch in style and although brighter than the sofa, it doesn’t steal focus when placed in the middle of the room.

Stack medium rug by Gail Bryson in Yolk, £299, sofa.com

Take colour to the floor with a striking, strategically placed rug to instantly brighten the room and add interest. The Stack rug, by our Design Lab partner Gail Bryson, works wonderfully in this room set as the Jasper sofa is one solid colour and gives the eye a place to rest, which is important when you have a bold rug on the ground.

Porter small rug in Mustard, £169, sofa.com

Mixing multiple rugs in a room is one of those interior decisions that troubles the best of us. However, just because something is tricky to start with doesn’t mean you shouldn’t give it a go! The easiest option, is of course, choose two rugs of the same colour or two different solid colours that match your colour scheme. However, here we have gone for two patterned rugs and the reason they work, and this is what makes mixing rugs that little bit easier, is they share the same palette of the accented colours in the room –  yellow.

Twist scatter cushion 38 x 55cm cushion by Gail Bryson, £50, sofa.com

Nothing adds colour to a room like some strategically placed cushions. The playful and energetic designs brings the sofa to life and adds instant interest and comfort as soon as you walk into the room.

Potter scatter 45 x 45cm cushion in Pineapple with Windermere piping, £30, sofa.com

We’ve continued to draw accents of colour with the addition of a couple of medium sized scatter cushions from our Potter scatter cushion range. The contrasting piping and face of the cushion add a further element of style to the room and makes mix and matching your accessories a little easier!
