Neutral Interiors: styled by you -

As the world continues to throw new challenges at us, creating a space at home that is your very own sanctuary has become more important than ever. It’s no wonder we are turning to neutral tones in our interiors to create a cool, calm and collected space where you can completely switch off from the outside world.

Neutral or natural? It seems like we are increasingly drawn to neutral tones because of the natural, light and airy look it creates, with shades such as Stone, Clay and Oat being some of our popular fabrics for neutral interiors. The simplicity of nature is not to be overlooked, and every neutral shade has undertones that can be brought to life using accessories such as cushions, throws, fresh flowers and artwork.

As well as using neutral tones to create a bright and uplifting space, they can also be used to create the most inviting corner imaginable, as shown perfectly by @lobsterandswan. Starting simply with white walls and gorgeous wooden floorboards, Jeska has built up layers of texture, reminiscent of the hygge trend we’ve seen develop inspired by Scandinavian style. From the collection of books and magazines, to the delicate fairy lights around artwork, and the soft linen drapes, each element added by Jeska not only has a purpose, but also sits perfectly in its space, and with the textured and patterned  scatter cushion our looks more inviting than ever!  The fresh flowers and green plant are the perfect finishing touches to one of our favourite spaces.

One of our favourite home accounts @thelittlestonecottage has a neutral colour scheme to die for! With rustic features, such as the exposed wooden beams, flagstone floor and exposed brickwork, less is most certainly more in this room. Introducing subtle touches of pastel pink through the , the artwork and the gorgeous fresh flowers helps to add warmth to the room, whilst the cream walls ensure the space remains bright, light and airy. A cup of tea and 5 minutes of peace in our Alderney armchair would be the dream in this gorgeous space!

Your bedroom should be a sanctuary, allowing you to drift off to sleep in peaceful surroundings, and @julia_aspinall has created a gorgeous haven. Keeping things simple with white walls and gorgeous parquet flooring, the room is naturally bright – especially from the sunlight that is filtered through shutters to provide a soft glow to the space. Our Rosalie double bed is the perfect tactile centrepiece to the room through its beautifully button-tufted headboard, but by upholstering the bed in a light neutral shade the room remains calm. Hints of light pink come through from an array of complementary scatter cushions and large throw, creating a timeless, feminine and elegant bedroom that dreams are made of.

Coastal Tones

The Bowens (@thebowenhome) have used neutral tones in their contemporary kitchen to create a seamless space and we couldn’t be more in love. The open plan area benefits from plenty of lighting, with a hint of sage in their kitchen units adding depth and detail. Choosing our Bluebell in Clay house basket weave has resulted in the perfect blank canvas to accessorise with soft furnishings in contrasting prints. We love how they styled their with various stripes running through their cushions and throws for a nautical, coastal vibe that’s reminiscent of holidays by the sea – Winnie the dog seems very happy with their decision!

Sometimes you need a corner in your home where you can escape to for 5 minutes of peace, and @kat_at_croft_corner has created just that. Starting with natural wooden flooring and neutral walls, the room is brought to life with Kat’s contemporary styling. Adding pattern and texture through the rug, cushions and throw is a great way to make a space in your home become more inviting, and we’d love to take some time out in this gorgeous space to relax in our Costello armchair! The finishing touches, including the floor light to brighten up the corner, the artwork and the handy wooden table, transform this space from a room to a haven.

Farmhouse Chic

This is the coach house conversion of dreams! @drs.wife has been working hard to achieve a gorgeous family home, and it’s definitely paid off. By painting the exposed brickwork and floorboards white the room looks much bigger and brighter, with small touches of soft grey keeping the space feeling cool and airy. We love how Caroline has kept the furnishings within the room really natural, including our gorgeous in Alabaster brushed linen cotton, which sits centre stage. As with many rooms designed with a neutral palette, you have the luxury of a plain canvas to add tactile surfaces to for cosiness and interest. Pile up the scatter cushions in various textures and introduce fresh flowers and foliage to bring the space to life. We especially love the addition of twigs in place of a chandelier as a beautiful and rustic finishing touch that completes the farmhouse chic look perfectly!
