Mid Century Modern style is all the rage in the 2020’s, which is great news for those of us who love the 1950’s and ‘60s. But how do you merge the trending colors of this year with the classic colors of the mid century? Luckily, Kardiel has some great picks that will set you up for success in both eras.
Kaffir Green
Kaffir is a type of lime, native to China and Southeast Asia. The color is a dark yet true green, which acts in part as a neutral while also adding color to a space. Kaffir Green will provide the rooms of your home with a grounded color that will harken back to the olive green so popular in the ‘50s and ‘60s, yet keep things fresh and updated in the 2020s. Try a sofa against a neutral-colored wall with gold accents for a dark and luxurious look, or pair a bench with a mid century inspired wallpaper in your entryway for a fun and bright welcome to your home.
Tan Leather
Leather is a classic for mid mod style—picture a den with wood-paneled walls and bookshelves lines with old books. Leather will go with almost anything, and the lighter tan look is trending now in 2020, but it’s also a great mid century color. This look would work well for your living room, with a sectional and ottoman. Remember to pick leather that will both contrast with and complement your room—if you do have those wood paneled walls, choose a light colored leather.
Slate Gray
Gray has been a trending color for the last few years, but it’s also a perfect match for Mid Century Modern style. Especially if neutrals are your jam, you can keep grays and whites in your house and not have to worry about putting in too much color. Gray looks great with wood tones, such as in a credenza or media cabinet, and of course, furniture such as a sofa, lounge chair or ottoman will bring calm mid century sophistication to your space.
