Summer is finally here, and we’ve never been happier to see the sunshine! The sun, and the colour yellow in general, has a real impact on the way we feel – injecting a sense of positivity, happiness and confidence into our daily lives. So what better way to bring the sunshine into your everyday than styling a space with yellow? Read on to discover different ways of brightening up your home with a touch of warmth and positivity.

Refresh a space

Introducing a yellow armchair to a neutral-inspired room is the perfect way to freshen up a space. A bold pop of colour can instantly put a modern twist on a traditional design, such as our chesterfield-inspired Poppy armchair, for a classic contemporary look.  Our Mango brushed linen cotton is a great choice for introducing a fun splash of colour to your home, which is bound to put a smile on your face.

Create a dramatic focal point

Be bold and create an impactful space to wake up in by using yellow as a stand out feature in the room. With a statement shape, such as our curved Audrey headboard, and bold yellow velvet, very little else is needed to transform the room into a space to recoup and reenergize. Combine deep blues, which emulate calm and restfulness, with bold yellows to create a sanctuary in which you can sleep well, before waking up refreshed with a positive outlook to start the day.

Simple touches

Sometimes you just need to introduce a small pop of yellow to a space to make a big difference. Swapping out darker or colder colours for warmer hues immediately makes a room feel brighter and more welcoming. If you’re not feeling particularly brave about experimenting with colour, bringing yellow into a room in the form of scatter cushions or throws is a great first step, providing a hint of sunshine without requiring total commitment!

Illuminating yellow and ultimate grey

Illuminating yellow and Ultimate Grey were the hues chosen for the 2021 Pantone of the year, representing practicality and strength, combined with optimism and warmth. After such a tumultuous time over the past year or so, having a space that fills you with positivity whilst retaining a level of calm and comfort has never been more needed. The vibrant yellow illuminates the room, particularly when combined with darker grey hues, creating the perfect place to relax in.

Our favourite homes, styled with yellow

@comedowntothewoods has created a space full of contemporary cool. The Canary cotton matt velvet stands out against the geometric patterns across the wall and floor, creating a fun and uplifting space to enjoy.

@inspired_interiors_edinburgh has used yellow to brighten up the space, accessorizing with scatter cushions and a footstool to inject some energy into the room.
